The Fastest Ways to 99 in OSRS (and When to Just Buy the Level)

Every "fastest 99" guide boils down to the same three levers: XP per hour, gp cost, and how much clicking you can stomach. Push one and the others usually move against you. Here's how to think about it — and how to get the exact numbers for your account before you commit.

Know your numbers first

Before grinding, work out how much XP you actually need and what it'll cost. Fastest routes by skill type

• Buyables (Prayer, Construction, Herblore, Cooking, Crafting, Fletching): the fastest skills in the game if your bank can fund them. These are pay-to-progress — XP is gated by gold, not time.
• Gathering (Mining, Fishing, Woodcutting): slower, but the methods with the best rates (e.g. 3-tick, tick manipulation) are click-intensive.
• Combat: efficient bossing and Slayer carry combat stats while paying you back in drops.
• Agility / Thieving / Slayer: mostly time-gated — consistent rates, long grinds.

When buying the level makes sense
